Books We Read Again, and again, again

There are some books that need to be read over and over, and others that your child won't let you hide under the couch cushions (and not because they are building a fort with said cushions). This is a personal and likely incomplete list of the books that we have had to read until we can recite the words in our sleep. Mostly they are appropriate for children ages 2-5, but that doesn't mean that the younger ones won't also toddle down the hall clutching a dog-eared cover, or that older ones won't snuggle in for a listen. In all cases the illustrations are delightful.

In no particular order:
My Very First Mother Goose (Iona Opie & Rosemary Wells)
Jack and the Flum Flum Tree (Julia Donaldson) Extra Yarn (Mac Barnett) We're Going on a Bear Hunt (Michael Rosen) Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak) Olivia (Ian Falconer) Blueberries for Sal (Robert McCloskey) The Runaway Bunny and Little Fur Family (Margaret Wise Brown) The Snowman and Father Christmas Goes on Holiday (Raymond Briggs) Play On Words (A & M Provensen) The Cat and the Wizard (Dennis Lee) Midnight Mimi (Marie Louise Gay) Seasons (Jim Burningham) Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever
