The best play dough is soft, smooth, colourful and easily handled. It doesn't stick to the rolling pin or your hands, it doesn't dye the carpet, and it doesn't dry out. Perhaps most importantly, it is something you and your toddler can make together!
*Store your play dough in a ziplock bag, and add a few drops of water to the bag every so often to keep the dough pliable.

Ingredients
2 cups   White Flour
1/2 cup   Salt
2 tablespoons   Vegetable Oil
2 tablespoons   Cream of Tartar
approx. 1.5 cups   Boiling Water
1-2 tablespoons   Orange Flower Water (a pleasant food-safe scent!)
Food Colouring
3 drops Glycerine for shine

Method: Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl, add oil and stir (or use your hands to rub it in.) Measure out boiling water, add several drops of food colouring and orange flower water if desired to the hot water, gradually pour the wet into the dry bit by bit, stirring between additions. Slowly adding the water lets you see when the play dough is the right texture. If it seems too sticky, sprinkle on a little more flour and knead in.
